Literature Text

A tube building sub-species of vhiyra that possess feathery radioles extending from both ears and hip used for filter feeding. Although this sub-species spends a lot of time within their tubes their bodies are still quite strong and well suited for crawling and do often go on short excursions around their home tube sometimes in search of larger prey than what they absorb through filter feeding. Their radioles can be used as nets for this purpose and can ensnare the larger prey they seek which can then be picked out by the vhiyra and consumed through the mouth. This species only feeds on prey they can swallow whole and do not have much of a expandable mouth or throat. Also their Scolecodont has only very fine blunt bumps to it very much like human teeth. Giant fan vhiyra can reach a maximum size of having a humanoid body preportions as a 130 foot giant human.

When the radioles are not in use, fan vhiyra can pull them close onto their body, wrapping them tightly around themselves like a piece of clothing. Human sized and smaller fan vhiyra can also use their outstretched radioles as a surface with which to float on water current, otherwise they have great difficulty swimming and usually are confined to the sea floor .

Fan vhiyra are most at home in the clear open waters of oceans lakes and rivers, staying away from murky and muddy waters. Though most of this sub-species live in the bright sunlit upper parts of the ocean some types are able to live comfortably within the upper reaches of the bathyal zone. This sub-species of reproduce by laying eggs about half the size of their fist in broods of 3 to 20 eggs, the higher numbers are more common amongst smaller individuals. The eggs are deposited into a tube built on the side of the parents tube structure or in a cave if that’s where the parent is residing. The eggs are about the size of tennis balls in comparison and are all held together in  a mass by a clear rubbery casing . Newborns have no larval phase and resemble miniatures of the adults.

They come in almost every color imaginable and often possessing patterning on their worm body and humanoid cuticle. They exist in all the different size categories, ranging from tinies to giants. Giant individuals of this sub-species typically don’t surpass lengths of 400 feet from head to tail and don’t posess humanoid portions that exceed the proportions of an 120 foot giant. For tiny and human sized fan vhiyra it is more common for them to form colonies of many individuals, commonly hidden in coral reefs or between rocks in places difficult for large predators to reach.
